How to take care of my jewelry?

Preserve the beauty, shine and longevity of your jewelry.

Simple ways to keep your jewelry looking its best (and brightest):

Avoid exposure to chemicals or corrosive products, such as perfume or cosmetic products.
Remove jewelry when bathing or swimming. Avoid contact with chlorine, sand or sea water.
Remove your jewelry before doing sports or any physical activity to avoid exposing it to knocks or sweat.
Do not wear your jewelry while sleeping to avoid accidentally causing damage.
Store your jewelry in a clean, cool, dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.

Can I shower with my jewelry on?

CRISJOYAS is a timeless investment. Taking good care of your jewelry will help maintain its splendor, shine and longevity. Below are some useful tips on how to care for and maintain your jewelry (and it's not difficult!)

Maintaining gloss

All CRISJOYAS items have been treated with a technique that helps prevent loss of shine. Even so, it is important to take into account the following considerations to optimize their good condition over time:

Your jewelry may lose its shine when exposed to the outdoors for a long time.
Loss of shine or tarnish is a natural process that can be restored by washing.
We strongly recommend removing any jewelry before going to sleep, showering, or before participating in any physical activity.
Exposure to certain chemicals or environments may compromise the integrity of your jewelry. This includes (but is not limited to): perspiration (sweat), perfumes/colognes, cleaning products, chlorine, salt water, silver polishes, etc.

Cleaning your jewelry
Mix a little soap with semi-warm water and scrub the item with a soft toothbrush. Toothbrushes are ideal for cleaning jewelry that has hard-to-reach corners. If dirt persists, perform the same process in clean water. Important: gold-plated pieces require extra care. Rubbing too hard can cause the plating to fade, so it is important to do so gently to avoid tarnishing the plating. A silver polishing cloth is a great tool to make your jewelry shine again if it has become blackened over time. However, this technique will not remove any scratches or dings that the piece may have.

How to store your jewelry
Your jewelry should always be stored away from any exposure to sunlight and away from warm places, ideally in a padded jewelry box or a tarnish-resistant bag. It can also be stored in individual plastic (polyethylene) bags with a hermetic seal. Never use rubber containers, as they will accelerate the tarnishing of the pieces and will probably cause them to blacken. Under no circumstances should you store your jewelry in a bathroom or in a humid place. Please note that CRISJOYAS boxes are not designed to keep items in perfect condition for long periods of time, as they are not airtight containers and color alteration may eventually appear with lack of use.

Important note
CRISJOYAS does not guarantee that the gold plating of our models will last forever. Gold-plated pieces are, by default, more fragile and susceptible to losing color over time. The speed at which this color disappears depends on multiple factors such as the use of chemical products on the skin, the level of body sweating or even the pH level of each person's skin. For this reason, it is especially important to take proper care of your gold-plated jewelry.
